The purpose of this policy is to detail the principles that all our staff must adhere to, especially with regards to dress code: wearing and laundering of uniforms, highlighting specific expectations for all those who are directly involved in the delivery of our care services.
Here at New Horizon Healthcare Services ltd, we take seriously our healthcare uniform policy and always ask those who work for us to adhere strictly to the policy. Our uniform policy is expected to present a smart and professional image of our entire workforce and in various care homes. Not just that, our dressings must also tell how much we care about hygiene, infection prevention and control. On this note, our health care assistants and nurses are, required to put on their uniform and any identity badge, and this must be worn and be clearly visible at all times during working hours.
We take it upon ourselves at New Horizon, to provide each of the members of our workforce with a uniform, with our badge/logo conspicuously inscribed on them free of charge. This comes at no cost to our workers, in order to make it easy, attractive to use and inexcusable not wearing one. It is also our responsibility to enlighten them on why we prioritize this policy.
It’s highly recommended to wear the uniform. Our carers and nurses are equally under a duty to launder their uniform and maintain same, as well as letting us know when they are due for a change.
Other things to be bear in mind:
Staff should dress in a way that is appropriate for their workplace, not overly tight,
revealing and harassing.
We encourage our staff to dress in a way that preserves decency and dignity
Staff should bear in mind that wearing loose clothing may compromise staff health
and safety within the workplace, or infection prevention and control.
Changing Facility
Where possible, there will be changing facilities for staff to change at the start and end of their working day. Where such facilities are available, employees must change into their uniforms at the start and end of their working shifts. If changing facilities are not available at the employee’s usual place of work, staff should ensure that their uniform is covered up whilst travelling from and to their places of work.
Staff should ensure they are familiar with any local procedures in case there is no changing
facility.
